Referees…

Can’t Live With Them, Can’t Live Without a Game Changing Random Holding

It’s no secret that referees have one of the most difficult jobs in the game. Not physically, of course, because they have some real jumbo shrimps out there, but emotionally and mentally, the tact it takes to be a good and respected man in stripe is a tall order. Sunday’s Game of the ultimate rematch, Patriots and Bills, left many, mainly Pat stans, wondering what constitutes picking up a flag? The example of choice here is when Referee Shawn Smith threw and withdrew in the same breath a flag against the Bills for a sideline hit on Patriots QB, Mac Jones. Here’s what they said: “What was ruled was, we had contact on the sideline. And after discussion, we determined that it was incidental contact that didn’t rise to a level of personal foul. There was no second act by the defender in that situation, so we determined that there was no foul, based on that action.” Depending on who you’re talking to this was either a call made in good faith, or a total atrocity, and because Patriots fans typically complain louder and more often, you’re looking at family dinner’s to come with a cousin that can’t seem to let one grievance die.

Ever wondered what you’d be like as a ref? Here’s a Quiz to tell you just how your officiating would go

Either way you end up with a tab you could have never seen coming

As with anything, we’ve got some good news and we’ve got some bad news. The good news is six teams have already clinched their spots in the Playoff, cue ‘All Me’ by Drake. Not too far behind are eight other teams, who if they win their final two games, are also guaranteed spots in the Playoffs and shot at the Superbowl. So who are the fail safe contenders?

Kansas City Chiefs

With a little bit of a rocky start, mostly off the field, (Click Here for that juicy gossip), the Chiefs clinched both their division and the playoffs, and beyond that, whispers are building that there sure in’s for the Superbowl, but the playoffs are like March Madness and the Bachelor, expect tears, upsets, and drunk fans.

Green Bay Packers

Another Superbowl pick, the Green Bay Packers are currently the number 1 seed in the NFC. Despite their relatively positive performance this 2021 season, other headlines have clouded their success, see: the difference between immunized and vaccinated.

Dallas Cowboys

Despite a somewhat hollow middle performance, the Cowboys have really giddy up’s (sorry) in their conclusion to the regular season, and has everyone wondering if it really might be their year, (for real this time).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Before we start instigating or defending the Tom Brady slander, the real man on the rise is Mike Evans, Wide Receiver. Hailing from Texas A&M this 1st round pick is coming up an showing out.

Los Angeles Rams

On a hot winning streak, the Rams have been that fun team to watch where you don’t totally know what to

expect, and I mean that in the nicest way. They’re a win win to watch as both fun and new, unless of

course they’re playing your team in which case you better hope Sony Michel keeps showing up and showing

out.

Arizona Cardinals

Despite losing three games in a row, cue the tiniest violin, these rare birds (because they haven’t clinched a playoff berth since 2015) have guaranteed their spots.
