What is UP you guys it is Thursday?
What’s the big news today? It’s that former Pro Bowl Linebacker KJ Wright just signed a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. Why is this big news? It’s not, but it is cool to see someone who has so many years under their belt still getting in some fresh rotations across the league.
Who is KJ Wright?
Mr. Wright has been in the league for a whopping 11 years. He went to Mississippi state where he was a crowd favorite and was drafted in the fourth round to the Seattle Seahawks, 99th overall, (under 100 counts for something right?). What’s fun about this trade to the Raiders is that he will be reunited with his former fling, I mean coach, Gus Bradley, who was the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks. This trade comes ahead of the highly anticipated Ravens v. Raiders game.

Okay But WHO is Lamar Jackson and WHY does my dad keep yelling his name?
Lamar Jackson is one of those super star players that really only comes around once in a lifetime. In college he set records, held remarkable stats, and this alone made him basically the only contender for the Heisman Trophy, despite heavy competition. Sure enough, in 2016 Lamar Jackson was recognized for his excellence on and off the field and was awarded the Heisman Trophy. What sets Jackson apart from his football peers is his athleticism. As a quarterback, you’ll often find players in that position timid to leave the pocket, a little slow in the running department, and not, how you say, quick on their feet. IF you’ve ever seen Tom Brady run you know what I’m talking about. Jackson could not be more opposite. He doesn’t just leave the pocket, he flees it, and what was so exciting about his entering into the league was that he set a new precedent for quarterbacks, showed a different ‘type’ if you will. Lamar Jackson entered the NFL world in the 2018 draft. Because of his insane athleticism, some wanted him to change his position from quarterback to wide receiver, but he stuck to his guns and was drafted to the Ravens as the back up to then-starter Joe Flacco. Flacco didn’t last long with Jackson at his heels, and he was quickly pushed out of the driver’s seat, (but no one could really blame him when it was a Greek God who pushed him out of the way). Lamar Jackson continues to be a fun player that is equally as exciting as he is credible, and its why he will absolutely be remembered as one of the greats.
